Boosh uses word-list data from a number of open-data and community-maintained sources. This page records those sources, acknowledges their creators, and provides applicable licence and download information.

Irish word lists

The Irish word lists used by Boosh are derived from the Irish Word Frequency List created by Michal Boleslav Měchura.

The original database and Boosh’s derived Irish word lists are made available under the Open Database License 1.0 (ODbL) .

The original data was processed to create word lists suitable for a five-letter word puzzle. The processing included:

German word-list acknowledgements

The German accepted-guess list is derived from the public-domain Free German Dictionary and filtered to entries suitable for Boosh.

The German answer list was ranked using German OpenSubtitles 2018 frequency data from the FrequencyWords project . FrequencyWords content is licensed under Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 .

The lists were also filtered using the German data from the List of Dirty, Naughty, Obscene, and Otherwise Bad Words , which is licensed under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 .

The source data was filtered and modified for Boosh. These acknowledgements do not imply that any of the source projects or their contributors endorse Boosh.

Scope

The licences described on this page apply only to the word-list data identified above. They do not apply to the Boosh application, source code, artwork, branding, or other project materials unless explicitly stated.
